I panicked after Davido stopped talking to me – Mayorkun

Nigerian singer Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, known professionally as Mayorkun, recounted a pivotal moment in his career during a recent episode of the Afropolitan podcast. Mayorkun revealed that after he left his job in banking, he was anxious when music star Davido did not respond to his messages for two weeks.
Mayorkun explained that Davido had initially expressed interest in signing him after seeing a video of him performing online. However, following that interaction, Mayorkun did not hear from Davido, which led him to seek spiritual guidance. He began attending church services, hoping for a turning point.
In a surprising turn of events, Mayorkun recalled a specific church service where he led a praise and worship session. He said that immediately afterward, he received a message from Davido on WhatsApp, asking him to pack his belongings and move into his home.
“It was more than a testimony,” Mayorkun stated. “Davido stopped replying to me for two weeks after I quit my banking job. I was on my way back to my seat after leading the praise and worship when he messaged me.”
His experience underscores the blend of music and spirituality that has characterized his journey to stardom, illustrating the unexpected ways in which opportunities can arise.
