Katsina State Police Command Emphasizes Professionalism for New Violent Crime Response Unit

KATSINA, Nigeria — The Katsina State Police Command has urged operatives of its newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) to maintain professionalism and operate within the legal framework.

Commissioner of Police Ali Umar-Fage delivered this message during a briefing with the unit’s personnel following a three-day intensive training session held in Katsina. He noted that the training was conducted in accordance with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan-Disu, and was designed to enhance the unit’s effectiveness in combating violent crime throughout the state.

Umar-Fage encouraged the officers to apply the knowledge gained during the training to their field operations while emphasizing the importance of discipline and integrity. He warned against human rights violations, extortion, and other forms of misconduct, underscoring that the unit must operate strictly within legal boundaries.

Additionally, the commissioner highlighted the necessity of intelligence-driven policing and the importance of collaboration with local communities to enhance crime prevention and response strategies. He urged residents to provide credible and timely information to assist the police in their efforts to combat criminal activities.

Umar-Fage reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property through professional and accountable policing.
