Barrister Hashim Abdullahi has been released after 21 days in captivity, his family confirmed. His release follows the payment of an undisclosed ransom by family members and supporters.

Abdullahi was abducted on his way to Sokoto after attending a meeting of the Muslim Lawyers Association in Kano.

Saidu Muhammad Tuduwada, the immediate past president of the association, verified the lawyer’s release, stating, “Yes, it is true that he was just released by his captors.” He expressed gratitude for the community’s prayers and support during Abdullahi’s ordeal, saying, “We thank Allah for His mercy.”

Initially, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of 100 million naira but later reduced it to 10 million naira, issuing a 48-hour ultimatum for payment.
