Legendary Optimus Prime Voice actor, Peter Cullen dies at 85 

Peter Cullen, the acclaimed Canadian actor and voice talent best known for voicing Optimus Prime in the “Transformers” franchise, has died at the age of 85. His family announced that Cullen passed away peacefully on Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles, surrounded by loved ones. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Cullen gained widespread recognition in 1984 when he first brought the character of Optimus Prime to life in the original “Transformers” animated television series. His powerful voice and distinctive delivery helped make Optimus a cherished figure in animation history.

Cullen reprised his role in several successful live-action “Transformers” films, beginning with director Michael Bay’s 2007 adaptation, which introduced the character to a new generation of fans.

In addition to his work on “Transformers,” Cullen’s career spanned several decades, during which he voiced Eeyore, the melancholic donkey from various “Winnie the Pooh” productions, and contributed his voice to other beloved characters, including K.A.R.R. from “Knight Rider.” He also created the vocal effects for the alien Predator in the 1987 science fiction film “Predator.”

Cullen’s portrayal of Optimus Prime left an indelible mark on popular culture. The character’s death in “The Transformers: The Movie” in 1986 sparked significant grief and outcry among fans, leading to demands for his return.
