Nigerian singer Charles Onyeabor records second sold-out show in Florence, Italy

Nigerian singer Charles Onyeabor hosted the second edition of his concert, The Charles Onyeabor Show, at Hard Rock Cafe in Florence, Italy, on Saturday, October 3.

The event, which follows the debut concert earlier this year, attracted a sold-out audience and featured a lineup of both African and international musicians.

Onyeabor performed tracks from his recent album, Legacy Continua, as well as selections from his back catalog. His performance blended various musical styles, including Afrobeat and Afro-funk.

Among the other artists sharing the stage were Danypreez, Emmiboy, Big Wailz, Lil Madd, Young Game, Italian-Nigerian musician Tommy Kuti, and rapper Vas Angelov.

Afrobeats MC and media personality Adesope Olajide, known as Shopsydoo, returned to host the event after his participation in the inaugural edition. DJs Fizzy, Stephy, and Simpo provided additional music throughout the evening.

Following the concert, Onyeabor expressed gratitude for the support from attendees. “Florence showed me incredible love again. To return for the second edition and see the venue sold out means a lot to me. I don’t take that support for granted,” he said.

He emphasized the concert’s aim to bring together people from diverse backgrounds to enjoy music and experience African culture. “We wanted to create more than a concert; we wanted to see different backgrounds come together and enjoy good music and the energy of African culture. Seeing that happen again was beautiful,” he added.

Onyeabor described the concert as part of the promotional efforts for his new album, Legacy Continua. “This is exactly what Legacy Continua represents for me; taking everything I have inherited, everything I have experienced, and everything I am building, and moving it forward,” he stated.

Charles Onyeabor is the son of the late Nigerian Afro-funk musician William Onyeabor.
