‘Nigerians now have culture of begging’ – Omotola Jalade

Veteran Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has voiced her concerns about what she describes as an entitlement mentality prevalent in Nigerian society. During a recent episode of the show “Activating Success With Love Idoko,” Ekeinde expressed her disapproval of begging, stating that it has become ingrained in the culture.

The actress remarked that she does not condone begging except in life-or-death situations. She emphasized that there is no excuse for individuals not to work. “Everybody has needs, including me. There are some needs I have that, if I felt entitled, I could go and ask certain people for help,” she said.

Ekeinde acknowledged that everyone faces challenges, noting, “At every level, we all have needs. But we are all struggling through it. Even if you have to beg, it should be a life-and-death situation.”

Furthermore, she urged individuals to avoid begging, stating that it can diminish one’s self-worth. “Try as much as you can not to beg and be a nuisance. If you must beg, let it be in a desperate situation. And don’t do it with entitlement,” she advised.
