Ogun State Official Inspects Metal Recycling Company for Environmental Compliance
SAGAMU, Ogun State — Kehinde Bello, General Manager of the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), conducted an unannounced inspection at Metal Recycling Industries Limited in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area, on Tuesday.
The visit aimed to evaluate the company’s adherence to environmental regulations, with a focus on pollution control, waste management, and compliance with existing environmental approvals.
Bello, accompanied by the agency’s enforcement unit, toured the facility to assess various aspects of its operations, including production methods, waste disposal practices, and air emission controls. This comprehensive review aimed to ensure that the company meets established environmental standards.
During the inspection, Bello reaffirmed OGEPA’s commitment to safeguarding the environment and public health through ongoing monitoring and enforcement efforts. He noted that both routine and unscheduled inspections are vital components of the agency’s strategy to enhance environmental responsibility among local industries.
“The implementation of environmental regulations, acquisition of necessary permits, and adoption of effective pollution prevention measures are crucial for minimizing operational impact on surrounding communities,” Bello stated.
He urged the management of Metal Recycling Industries Limited to uphold environmental best practices, promptly address any areas needing improvement, and continue collaborating with OGEPA to foster a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
