Police arrest Edo woman over false school kidnapping alarm

Edo State Police Arrest Suspect for Spreading False Kidnapping Claims

BENIN CITY, Edo State — The Edo State Police Command has apprehended Uzebor Emmanuel, widely known on social media as “Aza Woman,” for allegedly raising false alarms regarding the kidnapping of students at two local schools.

In a video that has since gone viral, Emmanuel claimed that terrorists invaded Green Park Academy and Western Boys’ College, leading to the abduction of several students. He stated that six students were taken via various mini transport vehicles, asserting that while some managed to escape, others were forced to pay ransoms.

According to SP Eno Ikoedem, the Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect’s allegations caused significant public distress and could potentially undermine trust in the state’s security measures.

In a statement released on Sunday, Ikoedem confirmed that Emmanuel would be charged in court following the completion of ongoing investigations.

The police department urged the public to exercise caution, verify information through reliable sources before sharing, and avoid using social media to propagate falsehoods that could disrupt public peace.
