Police arrest five suspects over alleged murder, armed robbery in Bauchi

Bauchi Police Arrest Five Suspects for Homicide and Armed Robbery
Bauchi State, Nigeria — The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended five individuals in connection with separate incidents of alleged homicide and armed robbery in the Bauchi and Ningi Local Government Areas.
According to a statement from police spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib, three suspects were detained for their involvement in the death of a resident from Miri Village in Bauchi Local Government Area, while two others were arrested for armed robbery targeting a commercial motorcyclist in Ningi.
The three suspects linked to the homicide—identified as 16-year-old Rabiyu Sanda, 21-year-old Muhammad Abubakar, and 21-year-old Suleiman Nura—reside in Miri Village. They were taken into custody on June 13, following an investigation into an incident that occurred on June 11. Preliminary findings suggest the suspects conspired to commit the act after a disagreement with the deceased. During interrogation, they reportedly confessed to the crime and provided information that facilitated the investigation.
The case has since been forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further examination, with plans for eventual prosecution.
In a separate incident, detectives from the Ningi Division arrested two suspects—Adamu Abdullahi from Zazika Village in Ningi LGA and Aminu Shuaibu from Dutsen Danga Village in Jigawa State—following an armed robbery attack on a 22-year-old commercial motorcyclist. The victim’s father reported the assault to police on June 14, indicating that his son had been attacked on the night of June 13 in Ningi Town. The assailants, armed with a hammer, reportedly injured the victim before stealing his motorcycle.
Police acted swiftly to recover the stolen motorcycle and apprehend the suspects. This case has also been transferred to the SCID for further investigation and potential prosecution.
Commissioner of Police CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has instructed investigators to handle these cases diligently. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state and encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement agencies.
