Anambra State Police Arrest Four Suspects in Separate Cases of Murder and Child Abuse

The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended four individuals linked to separate incidents of alleged murder and child abuse.

In a statement released Monday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga announced the arrests of Chukwudi Chukwuyere, Chisom Chukwuyere, and Arum Goodluck. The three are being held in connection with the alleged abuse of a 10-year-old boy in Odume Layout, Isiowulu.

Ikenga reported that during interrogation, the primary suspect, Chisom Chukwuyere, admitted to inflicting injuries on the child using burning plastics. The victim is currently receiving medical attention, while investigators continue to gather evidence to support the prosecution of the suspects.

Eyewitnesses have claimed the boy was living with a guardian who repeatedly subjected him to abuse, as evidenced by a viral video and photographs shared on social media.

In a separate case, police have also arrested Ifechukwu Okechukwu, 33, in connection with the alleged murder and clandestine burial of his 23-year-old girlfriend in Nkpor, Anambra State.

Authorities indicated that investigations into both incidents are ongoing.

The Anambra State Police Command has praised community members for their vigilance and timely reporting, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in addressing criminal activities and aiding law enforcement in apprehending suspects.

“The engagement of residents has been crucial in helping security agencies uncover crimes and pursue justice,” the statement concluded.
