Police arrest seven suspected cultists in Delta, recover gun, illicit drugs

Seven Suspected Cultists Arrested in Delta State Police Operation
AZAGBA-OGWASHI, Delta State — Operatives from the Delta State Police Command’s Anti-Cult Unit (CACU) arrested seven individuals on June 14, 2026, during a raid on a suspected cult hideout. The operation, conducted in Azagba-Ogwashi, resulted in the recovery of a double-barreled gun, two live cartridges, and various illicit drugs.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, announced the arrests in a statement issued from Warri. According to Edafe, authorities acted on credible intelligence to target the site.
The suspects have been identified as Obore Ndubrisi, 26; Okafor Okene, 25; Odinigie Sunday, 26; Okohur Destiny, 21; Felix Abraham, 25; Aputa Israel, 27; and Okolie Chinonso Peter, 24.
Edafe detailed that the items seized during the operation include quantities of substances believed to be Indian hemp and Tramadol, as well as a walkie-talkie.
The suspects, along with the recovered items, remain in police custody as investigations continue.
