Police, EFCC rescue 14 victims kidnapped along Calabar-Oron waterways

Police Rescue 14 Kidnapped Passengers in Akwa Ibom State
UYO, Akwa Ibom – The Akwa Ibom State Police Command successfully rescued 14 passengers who were kidnapped by sea pirates along the Calabar-Oron waterways.
The operation took place through a coordinated effort with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and was announced by police spokesperson DSP Timfon John in a statement released on Tuesday.
According to John, the rescue followed extensive intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration. The rescued individuals are currently receiving medical evaluation and treatment, as well as debriefing, before being reunited with their families.
“Acting on credible intelligence, joint operatives intensified surveillance and launched targeted operations across identified flashpoints, culminating in the safe rescue of all victims without any loss of life,” John stated.
Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare praised the professionalism and operational efficiency of both agencies involved in the rescue. He noted that efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the kidnapping.
Azare also reassured residents and maritime operators of increased security measures along the waterways and encouraged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist law enforcement.
