Aba Police Arrest Man After Viral Assault Video
The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, Agwu Ukpo, who was seen in a viral video assaulting a woman in Aba.
Authorities report that Ukpo, a resident of Akanu Ohafia, attacked his victim, Amarachi Chinyere, in connection with a dispute over a pot of soup.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the suspect was apprehended by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following actionable intelligence.
Chinaka noted that the case is currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and assured the public that Ukpo would be charged in court once the investigation concludes.
The police condemned the incident as a “barbaric and inhumane act of domestic violence,” reaffirming their stance that such behavior is unacceptable.
In a statement, the police urged the public to refrain from all forms of violence, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring justice and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
