President Tinubu, governors are like sons to me – Pete Edochie

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has asserted that his influence stretches beyond the entertainment sector, positioning himself as a father figure within Nigerian society due to his age and experience.

In a recent interview with TV3, Edochie conveyed that his status commands respect from government officials, noting that his age places him in a paternal role relative to Nigeria’s president and state governors.

Edochie is set to turn 80 in six months, making him older than the current president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as all 36 state governors. He recounted a time when he utilized his influence to garner financial assistance from the government for a fellow actor who was ill.

“I was interviewed in my house in Enugu. During that period, one of my colleagues was ill, so I used that opportunity to call on the government to come to his aid,” Edochie said.

He continued, “The following week, the government sent half a million naira to him. I will be turning 80 in the next six months. I am older than all the governors and the president, so when I talk to them, it is like a father talking to a son.”
