Islamic Cleric Urges Unity Following Appointment of New Chief Imam
OYO STATE, Nigeria — Fadeelatus-Sheikh Abdul-Mu’min Shehu Usman, an Islamic cleric and Muqaddamul Wai’zeen of Oyo State, has called on Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani, newly appointed Chief Imam of Ilorin, to focus on promoting unity and peace within the Muslim community.
In a statement congratulating the Chief Imam-designate, Usman emphasized that the appointment reflects Sheikh Dasuki’s extensive knowledge, humility, and dedication to the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah.
Usman expressed his hopes for the new Chief Imam, praying for him to serve as a source of guidance and a “lamp in darkness.” He encouraged Sheikh Dasuki to foster unity among the Ummah and to advocate for progress and development.
“It is with a heart brimming with joy and gratitude to Allah that I congratulate you, your esteemed family, the Ulama Council of Ilorin, and the entire Muslim Ummah on your appointment as the Grand Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate by the Emir of Ilorin,” Usman stated.
He implored the Chief Imam to leverage his new position to encourage education, entrepreneurship, and community service, urging that mosques become centers of knowledge and solutions to the challenges faced by the community.
Usman added, “Speak with wisdom and mercy. O Allah, make him an Imam of guidance and a lamp in darkness. Unite the Muslims through him and bless his knowledge, deeds, life, and offspring.”
He conveyed confidence that under Sheikh Dasuki’s leadership, Ilorin would shine as a beacon of scholarship, peace, and progress, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a strong bond among various cities and the Ilorin Ulamā’.
