Ramadan Stopping Me From Performing In Nigeria

Nigerian Singer Fave Addresses Show Restrictions During Ramadan
Nigerian singer Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, known professionally as Fave, has expressed her concerns regarding an apparent ban on music performances during the Ramadan period in Nigeria.
In a recent statement, the artist, famous for her song “Baby Riddim,” revealed that her plans to host a concert on her birthday, March 13, have been complicated due to this restriction. Fave stated that she was informed performances are typically not allowed during the Islamic fasting month.
“This situation has left me confused, as I was hoping this concert would mark my debut major show in Nigeria as an independent artist,” she said. Fave indicated that multiple promoters declined her event proposal, all citing the same reason related to Ramadan.
While acknowledging her respect for all religions, Fave expressed her confusion about how Ramadan should hinder her professional endeavors. She noted her familiarity with Ramadan practices developed later in life, having grown up in southern Nigeria.
Identifying as a Christian, Fave expressed her desire to celebrate her birthday with a live performance in her home country. She also appealed to any promoters willing to collaborate on the event, stating her eagerness to move forward if given the opportunity.
“I really want to do this on my birthday, so if you’re reading this and are open to organize, I’d be so happy,” she added in her message.
