Rev Dachomo replies VDM over allegations of supporting Tinubu

COCIN Regional Chairman Denies Campaigning for President Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Election

BARKIN LADI, Plateau State – Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) for Barkin Ladi Local Government Area in Plateau State, has rejected allegations that he has been campaigning for President Bola Tinubu in the lead-up to the 2027 election.

The denouncement follows statements made by social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), who criticized Dachomo for allegedly transitioning from vocal criticism of Tinubu to calling for prayers in support of his administration. In a video posted online Monday, VDM accused the cleric of compromising his position following a recent trip to Israel, where he reportedly intended to address world leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, about violence against Christians in Plateau State and Nigeria’s Middle Belt.

VDM asserted that Dachomo’s visit had shifted focus, with the cleric allegedly using the trip as an opportunity to pray for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) as they prepare for the upcoming election. Despite earlier denying any support for Tinubu’s campaign, VDM claimed that Dachomo had changed his stance from accusing the administration of attempting to Islamize Nigeria and failing to address security issues, to now advocating for prayers for its success.

In a response to these accusations, Rev. Dachomo reiterated that he has never prayed for or campaigned on behalf of President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, or the APC. Through a statement shared on his social media accounts, he condemned attempts to associate his name with political endorsements as unfounded and malicious.

“The prayers I offered during my visit to Israel were focused on national peace and seeking divine intervention against evil plans aimed at persecuted communities,” Dachomo stated. He emphasized his prayer against electoral malpractices and clarified that he does not support a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

Dachomo expressed frustration that elements of his prayers have been misrepresented, stating, “My only prayer is for evil deeds to fail. I have never prayed for the success of rigging elections.”

He further called attention to the injustice of misusing his name for political gain: “Those who are using my name to further their campaigns are doing a great injustice not only to me but to President Tinubu as well.”

Dachomo concluded with a strong warning against electoral fraud: “Any spirit or individual that intends to rig the elections will face consequences for their actions.”
