Lagos Governor Praises Successful Rescue of Abducted Schoolchildren

LAGOS, Nigeria – Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State lauded the recent rescue operation that freed schoolchildren and teachers kidnapped in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on May 15. He characterized the mission as a significant advancement in the ongoing battle against insecurity in the region.

In a statement released Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu expressed his relief regarding the victims’ release after more than 55 days in captivity. He emphasized that the event underscores President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to protecting lives and tackling the nation’s security issues.

Sanwo-Olu praised the collaborative efforts of several security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Police Force, which were instrumental in the successful operation.

The governor extended his support to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the residents of Ogbomoso, noting that the rescue operation had renewed hope for affected families and bolstered public confidence across the Southwest region and the country at large.

“This rescue operation is a significant relief and exemplifies the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in combating insecurity,” Sanwo-Olu stated. “I commend the tireless efforts and resilience of our courageous security operatives who made this possible. I also share in the joy of the people of Oyo State, particularly those in Ogbomoso, on this wonderful news.”
