Tayo Sobola cannot be cast as responsible housewife or child – Tolu Fagbure

Nigerian film critic Tolu Fagbure has made headlines by asserting that actress Tayo Sobola, popularly known as Sotayogaga, is unsuitable for roles that portray her as a responsible housewife or child. Fagbure discussed the influence of professional training on an actor’s career during a recent interview with Dele Adeyanju on Agbaletu TV.

Fagbure contended that Sobola’s career has been negatively impacted by the presence of a permanent tattoo on her arm. He argued that her choice of clothing, which often exposes the tattoo, further detracts from her ability to embody the persona of a responsible character.

“Tayo Sobola should be trained; she is trainable,” Fagbure said. “In my opinion, she has lost her place in acting because of the permanent tattoo. As an actor, one should not have body markings, piercings, or permanent features that cannot be removed for a role.”
