Damilola Olayemi, the widow of the late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, has resolved a dispute regarding her husband’s burial location following public scrutiny over the matter.
The decision comes amid reports of a disagreement with Toluwanisings’ family. In a recent viral interview, family members claimed that Olayemi opposed plans to inter the 32-year-old singer at their home in Ibadan, Oyo State, preferring instead to have him buried at a cemetery.
Toluwanisings’ father had insisted on a different arrangement, stating that his son should be interred in his hometown alongside his late mother if burial at the family residence was not possible. This conflict ignited significant online debate, with some questioning Olayemi’s commitment to her late husband and calling for an investigation into his unexpected passing.
In response to the unfolding situation, Lanre Alewilese, a close associate of Toluwanisings, shared via an Instagram video on Sunday that the widow has come to an agreement with the family to proceed with the burial at the family home.
Describing the earlier disagreement as a misunderstanding, Alewilese urged the public to cease criticizing Olayemi during this trying time. “Damilola is very young for what she’s currently going through,” he said. “The disagreement between Toluwanisings’ father and his widow has been resolved. Please, let there be peace.”
He requested that fans and the public respect Olayemi’s wishes as the family seeks to honor the late singer.
