Troops Neutralize Suspected Terrorist in Borno State

Borno State, Nigeria – Troops from Operation Hadin Kai have neutralized an individual suspected to be associated with Boko Haram or the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) who approached a military position in suspicious circumstances early June 3.

Military sources reported that the incident occurred around 2:35 a.m. at the Forward Operating Base in Chabbol, operated by the 199 Special Forces Battalion. Sentinels on duty observed an unidentified individual moving toward the base and promptly challenged him to halt for identification and security checks.

The individual, however, allegedly disregarded the repeated warnings and continued advancing, prompting troops to respond in accordance with established force protection protocols.

“The intruder refused to comply with orders to stop and was consequently engaged and neutralized by the sentries,” the sources stated.

The military sources emphasized that terrorist groups in the North-East have previously attempted to infiltrate military positions for purposes of surveillance, attacks, or intelligence gathering, highlighting the importance of stringent adherence to force protection measures.
