Troops rescue kidnap victim, neutralise three suspects in Edo
Troops neutralized three suspected kidnappers during a security operation in Sasaro Forest, located in the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area. The operation was carried out at approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2026, following actionable intelligence, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama in social media posts on X.
During the mission, the soldiers recovered three locally fabricated firearms, nine cartridges, and various other items. A victim who had been rescued from the kidnappers was evacuated to a local hospital for medical treatment and is reported to be recovering well.
The recovered weapons and items were turned over to the Department of State Services, while the bodies of the deceased suspects were placed in the custody of the Nigeria Police Force. This operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities in the region.
