‘VDM asked if Davido promised me free collaboration’ — Kokopee reveals fallout

Kokopee, a close associate of activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), has provided insight into the ongoing dispute between VDM and Nigerian singer Davido. Kokopee stated that VDM questioned his involvement in the conflict, prompting his public comments.

His remarks followed a wave of criticism from social media users who accused him of remaining silent during the discord. Many expressed skepticism about Kokopee’s assertion that Davido had reached out to him regarding the situation.

Kokopee clarified that his involvement began only after conflicts arose between VDM and Davido, and he was not present when their friendship was formed or when the singer invited VDM to Lagos.

According to Kokopee, VDM had contacted him to voice concerns about Davido’s actions. Kokopee advised VDM to speak with mutual acquaintances Israel or Ubi. In turn, Davido also reached out to Kokopee to discuss the matter. Kokopee attempted to convey to Davido VDM’s feelings of betrayal, but the singer disagreed with this perspective.

As tensions escalated, Kokopee recalled VDM questioning why he was prioritizing Davido’s issues and whether the singer had promised him a music collaboration. To avoid being perceived as betraying VDM, Kokopee decided to step back from the situation. He noted that while he has privately advised VDM to be cautious in his friendship with Davido, he cannot compel either party to resolve their differences.

In response to critics who doubted Davido’s outreach, Kokopee stated he has not disclosed the details of their conversation. “I did not disclose the content of my chat with Davido, and Davido is not too big to message me,” he emphasized. He further countered criticism by asserting his self-respect: “I’m only humble, not hungry,” and challenged the notion of his standing, asking, “Am I too small for Davido to message?”
