Defending Champions Flying Eagles to Kick Off WAFU B U-20 Championship Against Ghana
The Flying Eagles of Nigeria, the reigning champions, are set to begin their campaign in the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship. They will face off against long-time rivals, the Black Satellites of Ghana, at the Lycée Scientifique de Yamoussoukro on Monday, July 27.
This matchup recalls the 2024 final, where the Flying Eagles secured a 2-1 victory over Ghana.
Under the guidance of coach Abdu Maikaba, the Flying Eagles will continue their tournament schedule with a match against the Junior Sparrow Hawks of Togo on Thursday, July 30, also at the Lycée Scientifique de Yamoussoukro. They will conclude their Group B fixtures against the Young Stallions of Burkina Faso on Sunday, August 2.
The upcoming competition will serve as the qualifying round for the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
