World Cup 2026: ‘They’ll lose final’ – Owen identifies country that won’t win trophy

Michael Owen Predicts England Will Fall Short in 2026 World Cup
Former England striker Michael Owen has forecasted that the national team will not win the 2026 World Cup. In his remarks, Owen expressed confidence that England will advance to the final but is likely to face defeat against either France or Spain.
In an interview with Metro UK, Owen admitted that both France and Spain possess stronger teams than England. He made these comments ahead of England’s upcoming World Cup semi-final match against Argentina on Wednesday.
“I believe we can definitely reach the final,” Owen stated. “However, I think we would have a better chance against Spain than against France. Regardless, both of those teams would be favored in a matchup against us.”
Owen added, “I envision us getting to the final and ultimately losing. That is my assessment of the situation. My heart says England, but my mind recognizes that France and Spain are likely superior.”
