‘You need prayers’ – Makinde hits Fayose over kidnap comments

Governor Calls for Prayers for Fayose Amid Political Tensions

OYO STATE — Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State urged Nigerians to pray for former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose following a series of politically charged accusations attributed to Fayose.

The call for prayers was conveyed through a statement from the state’s Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, on Tuesday.

Oyelade expressed dismay at Fayose’s recent statements, which he characterized as unfounded allegations. He emphasized that Makinde remains focused on addressing ongoing security challenges in Oyo State.

“Nigerians are shocked by Fayose’s comments,” Oyelade said. “He needs prayers. For a former governor to be consumed by vindictiveness and deceit to the extent that he jeopardizes public safety and distracts security personnel from their duties reflects a troubling mindset.”

The commissioner added that Makinde is dedicated to resolving issues related to the kidnapping of children and teachers in the state and is unwilling to engage with someone whose past behavior has raised concerns.

Oyelade also referenced previous comments made by Fayose, alleging that the current governor is linked to political unrest in the region, particularly regarding the recent abductions in Oriire Local Government Area.

He urged residents and citizens nationwide to remain calm and hopeful, assuring them that the government is committed to securing the safe return of the abducted individuals.

Fayose, in an interview with Channels Television on Monday, accused Makinde of inaction in response to the kidnapping incident. He claimed, without providing evidence, that the abductions were politically motivated to embarrass President Bola Tinubu, suggesting they may have been orchestrated by the state government. These remarks have ignited renewed political discourse.
