2026 FIFA WWC: D’Tigress suffer heavy defeat to France in final group game
Nigeria’s D’Tigress concluded their campaign at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup with a 111-56 loss to France in their final group match.
Coached by Rena Wakama, the team was unable to progress beyond the group stage after suffering defeats in their opening games against Hungary and South Korea. Nigeria lost 99-81 to South Korea and narrowly fell 71-68 to Hungary.
In the match against France, the Nigerian squad struggled from the outset. France outscored D’Tigress 31-13 in the first quarter and built a commanding 65-26 lead at halftime.
The second half saw France maintain their dominance, adding 30 points in the third quarter before finishing the game with another 16 points in the final period.
D’Tigress managed to score 56 points overall, with their highest quarter tally coming in the fourth, where they registered 17 points after scoring 13 in each of the first three quarters.
