2027: Lagos PDP denies endorsing Tinubu, disowns viral statement

Lagos PDP Denies Endorsement of President Tinubu

By Henry Umoru

The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially refuted claims that it has endorsed President Bola Tinubu and his administration in advance of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement released Tuesday, Publicity Secretary Christopher Odianarewo labeled the allegations as unfounded and urged the public to disregard them. He emphasized that President Tinubu is not affiliated with the PDP and that the party has not backed him, his administration, or the policies of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The statement further questioned the legitimacy of the claims, noting that the circulated document lacked an identifiable author, official party insignia, signature, or authorization from any recognized party body.

The Lagos PDP suggested that the publication aimed to sow discord within its ranks and mislead the public regarding its official stance.

Reaffirming its position, the party recognized the Interim National Working Committee (INWC), chaired by Dr. Tanimu Turaki (SAN), and the Board of Trustees led by Senator Adolphus Wabara as its legitimate leadership.

The chapter reiterated its commitment to the rule of law, due process, and democratic values, stating it will resist any effort to undermine the unity and integrity of the PDP.

The party called on its members, stakeholders, the media, and the public to disregard the purported endorsement and to remain vigilant against misinformation. The Lagos PDP remains focused on positioning itself as a credible alternative for Nigerians in the upcoming elections.
