Prominent Nigerian Cleric Confirms Mass Burial Following Attack in Kaduna State
Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a prominent Christian cleric in Nigeria, has confirmed the mass burial of 27 victims murdered during a recent attack in Naridon village, located in the Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The tragic incident occurred on July 26, when suspected militants from the Fulani group targeted the village, resulting in the deaths of approximately 30 individuals. Reports indicate that of the deceased, 21 were affiliated with a Catholic church, while nine belonged to the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA).
On Saturday, 27 of the victims were laid to rest in a solemn mass burial, according to Rev. Dachomo. In a statement, he expressed deep sorrow over the persistent violence that has claimed innocent lives in the region. He described his anguish as he witnessed the burial, noting, “Twenty-seven caskets stood side by side, each one carrying a life that was precious to God. Some families stood before more than one coffin because they had lost several loved ones in the same attack. Parents buried their children, children buried their parents.”
Rev. Dachomo lamented the impact of the violence on the community, stating, “Naridon Village became another place where dreams were buried alongside innocent lives. The sound of weeping replaced the laughter of families.”
He urged the world to pay attention to the ongoing violence, questioning how many more victims must fall before adequate action is taken. “The silence left behind is almost unbearable. Every coffin tells the story of a future stolen too soon,” he added in a post on his official social media account.
