416 captives: Borno youths raise alarm over Boko Haram’s 72-hour ultimatum

Boko Haram Issues 72-Hour Ultimatum Over Abducted Individuals in Borno State
The Borno South Youth Alliance (BOSYA) has requested immediate assistance from government authorities and prominent stakeholders, following a 72-hour ultimatum issued by Boko Haram regarding the abduction of approximately 416 individuals in the region.
BOSYA’s appeal comes during ongoing discussions aimed at securing the release of women and children taken from the Ngoshe community in Borno State. The organization reported that Boko Haram delivered a video message outlining demands for the abductees’ release, including a ransom of 5 billion Naira.
Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, the president of BOSYA, shared details regarding the group’s mediation efforts. “Instructions for the release process were communicated as part of the ultimatum,” Kaigama noted.
In light of the urgent humanitarian situation, BOSYA is calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Borno Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, as well as philanthropic figures such as Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu, to take decisive action.
The statement emphasized the need for swift intervention, urging stakeholders to employ all lawful means available to ensure the safe return of the abducted women and children. “This is a humanitarian crisis that requires immediate action, compassion, and unity,” the statement concluded.
