Bandits kill nine, injure eight in fresh attack on Zamfara village

At least nine people were killed and eight others injured during an attack by suspected bandits on Rumbuki village in the Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Tuesday evening.
The incident was reported by security analyst Bakatsine in a post on X. According to the post, the attackers entered the village and opened fire on residents, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. Additionally, several residents are reportedly missing following the assault.
The violence reportedly spread to the nearby village of Nikai, where homes were set ablaze. Among the deceased were three children of a well-known community leader.
Bakatsine’s post included a call for heightened security measures: “This evening, bandits stormed Rumbuki village in Bukkuyum LGA, Zamfara State. They killed nine people, injured eight residents, and several others are still missing. The attack also led to the burning of Nikai village, with three children of a respected local figure among the dead. How many more rural communities must suffer before urgent and effective security intervention is guaranteed?”
Local authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the attacks.
