FCT Police Command To Commence Mental, Psychological Examination Of Officers

Emergency Meeting Convened by FCT Commissioner of Police

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has called an emergency meeting with all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Tactical Units within the Command.

During the session, Sanusi emphasized the necessity of maintaining the highest standards of professionalism in policing duties. He issued a stern warning against any misconduct that could tarnish the reputation of the Nigeria Police Force or the FCT Command and underscored the importance of adhering to existing human rights laws.

All senior officers were instructed to return to their respective Areas of Responsibility to brief and sensitize their subordinates on these directives. They are also required to submit detailed compliance reports to Command Headquarters, consistent with the mandate of the Inspector-General of Police. The Commissioner cautioned that any senior officer whose subordinate is involved in misconduct will be held vicariously liable.

In an effort to enhance discipline, welfare, and operational efficiency, Sanusi directed the Command’s Medical Director, ACP (Dr.) Ifayase Olabanji Akinola, along with the Police Counseling Unit, to initiate a comprehensive psychological and mental health assessment of all personnel in the Command. This initiative will commence with junior officers on May 4, 2026, and aims to improve emotional stability, sound judgment, and overall performance both on and off duty.

The Command urges the public to remain law-abiding and to report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or via the Command’s emergency hotline: 08032003193 or 08061581938.
