Ogun Police recover three stolen cars, arrest suspect

Three Suspected Armed Robbers Arrested in Ogun State
Ogun State, Nigeria — Detectives from the Anti-Robbery Squad of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three individuals suspected of being involved in a series of armed robberies. The operation, which culminated in the arrests, also resulted in the recovery of three stolen vehicles and a pistol.
In a statement released on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer Oluseyi Babaseyi identified the suspects as Hammed Olarewaju, Adedokun Ayinde, and Adedokun Adewusi. The investigation began following multiple reports of vehicle theft in the region, prompting police to initiate a discreet, intelligence-driven inquiry.
Babaseyi stated that the investigation initially led to the arrest of Olarewaju, who was discovered with a vehicle displaying a suspicious license plate. Further investigation revealed that Ayinde is believed to be the leader of a suspected robbery syndicate operating within the state.
During the operation, detectives recovered a Toyota Sienna, previously reported stolen, along with a fabricated pistol that is believed to have been used in the commission of various crimes. Additionally, a Toyota Corolla, reported stolen in Ilaro, was located in the possession of a suspect identified as Arowolo Taoreed in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Adewusi was also apprehended in connection with another armed robbery incident. As a result of ongoing investigations, police recovered a 2017 Lexus RX 350 F-Sport, traced to Abuja, and linked to the same group. A separate pistol retrieved in Ajah, Lagos State, is also associated with the criminal network.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are part of a coordinated operation engaged in vehicle theft and armed robbery across Ogun State and its neighboring areas. Authorities continue to pursue additional suspects and strive to recover more stolen vehicles.
