Oyo State Police Detain Officers Following Fatal Motorcycle Accident
The Oyo State Police Command has announced the detention of two officers in connection with the death of a motorcyclist, Umar Yahúza, who was involved in a fatal accident on Saturday.
The officers, an assistant superintendent of police and an inspector from the Border Patrol Unit, were taken into custody in Iseyin. They will remain detained while the investigation continues, according to a statement from Police Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade.
Ayanlade reported that the accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday. Yahúza was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Following Islamic customs, his body was released to the Seriki of the Hausa community for burial.
The police command emphasized that the two officers will be held accountable as the investigation proceeds.
