North West governors won’t negotiate with bandits – Gov. Aliyu

Sokoto Governor Rejects Negotiations with Bandits
KATSINA, Nigeria — Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State announced that governors in Nigeria’s North-West region will not engage in negotiations with bandits. His comments came during the inauguration of a new road project in Katsina State, where he emphasized the collective commitment of regional leaders to combat insecurity.
“We will not negotiate with any criminal, nor will we accept any offer from them unless they surrender unconditionally,” Aliyu stated.
The governor assured residents that state governments are collaborating closely with security agencies to tackle the issue of banditry. He urged community members to play a proactive role by reporting any suspicious activities and informants.
“We must do the needful at the community level by remaining vigilant and monitoring the movement of suspicious individuals,” he stressed.
Additionally, Aliyu encouraged citizens to support security efforts and pray for their success. He commended Katsina State’s Community Guard initiative for its contributions to improving safety in the region.
