I’d still be performing as musician even if I become government official – Davido

Nigerian Musician Davido Addresses Politics and Music Career
Nigerian musician David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, affirmed that entering politics would not hinder his career as an artist. During a recent livestream discussion with fellow artist Davrel, he expressed his belief that he could balance both roles effectively.
“If I ever decide to work in government, I would still be performing. I don’t think that stops anything,” Davido said. He cited the example of Michel Martelly, the former president of Haiti, who maintained his musical career while in office. “He even went on tours during his presidential tenure,” Davido added.
However, Davido also shared his growing skepticism about pursuing a political career. He reflected on the experiences of other Nigerian celebrities who have made a similar transition, observing that many have faced challenges in politics. “Most Nigerian celebrities who transitioned from entertainment to politics haven’t been successful,” he noted.
While he once had ambitions in politics, Davido stated that current realities have caused him to reconsider his interest in the field.
