Veteran Nigerian Actor Dele Odule Reflects on Dark Times in Candid Interview

Dele Odule, a prominent actor in the Nigerian film industry, revealed in a recent interview that he once sought to price his own casket during a challenging period of his life. Odule spoke about this experience during an interview with Feelright TV.

In recounting the difficult moment, Odule shared that he was not physically ill, but felt a profound sense of hopelessness regarding his career. He was accompanied by fellow actor Olaiya Igwe during this experience.

“I had priced my own casket before, when I was in a state of hopelessness and complete loss of hope. Olaiya Igwe went there with me. Olaiya started crying like a baby,” Odule said. He noted that the pressure of feeling stagnant in his career weighed heavily on him, particularly as he compared his progress to that of his peers from school.

Odule’s career began in the 1970s, but he gained significant recognition in 1993 for his role in “Ti Oluwa Nile,” a classic film in the Yoruba cinema landscape.
