Nigerian Singer Davido Announces Indefinite Hiatus from Music

Nigerian artist David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has declared an indefinite break from music. During a recent livestream with fellow artist Davrel, he informed fans not to expect new songs in the near future, emphasizing that he is currently on a sabbatical.

Davido reassured his audience that he does not need to release new music to maintain his status in the industry, noting that his tracks continue to dominate playlists in clubs. “Stop asking me when I am dropping new music. I am on a musical break. If you go to the club right now, 10 out of 20 songs are mine,” he stated.

In addition to discussing his hiatus, Davido expressed his support for a burgeoning celebrity boxing tournament in Nigeria, calling it a “welcome development.”

The tournament recently garnered attention when popular streamer Cater Efe defeated controversial singer Portable, who had previously held the championship title. Following his loss, Portable accused his peers in the music industry of failing to support him, suggesting that many harbor negative feelings towards him.
