Nigerian govt announces partial closure of Ikorodu-Sagamu Road

Partial Closure of Ikorodu–Sagamu Road for Rehabilitation Work Begins Monday
The Federal Government has announced a partial closure of sections of the Ikorodu–Sagamu Road starting Monday to facilitate ongoing rehabilitation efforts on damaged areas of the highway.
Olayiwola Komolafe, the Federal Controller of Works in Ogun State, stated that this temporary closure is essential for contractors to continue reconstruction on critical road segments.
According to Komolafe, David Umahi, the Minister of Works, has instructed Arab Contractors to return to the site and expedite the completion of important project components.
The affected areas include the stretch from Ikorodu Roundabout to Sabo Junction, as well as the section from Lagos Cement to the Coca-Cola axis heading toward Sagamu.
Motorists traveling from Ikorodu to Sagamu will be redirected through alternative lanes under a counterflow traffic arrangement during the rehabilitation period.
Komolafe indicated that the reconstruction is expected to last for three months, allowing for construction activities and sufficient curing of the concrete pavement.
To manage traffic flow and minimize disruptions, officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be deployed along the corridor.
Motorists are encouraged to cooperate with traffic management personnel and security agencies throughout the duration of the project. The ministry has also urged road users to be patient with any inconveniences caused by the repair work.
