Ilebaye’s father breaks silence on alleged assault

The father of former Big Brother Naija winner Ilebaye, Odinia Emmanuel Godson, has addressed recent incidents involving allegations of domestic violence and physical assault against his daughter.

In a video that has gained significant attention online, Godson explained the motivations behind his actions. He began by expressing gratitude to Nigerians for their support, acknowledging both positive and negative reactions regarding Ilebaye’s situation.

“I want to thank my fellow Nigerians and those around the world for their comments about my daughter,” he said. “I want to clarify that the events leading up to this situation were not due to a lack of love for her. Ilebaye is one of my respected children, and her upbringing reflects my commitment to her well-being.”

Godson recounted his support for Ilebaye throughout her participation in the Big Brother show. “When she expressed a desire to join Big Brother, I accepted and invested in her efforts. Although she faced eviction in her first attempt, I helped rally support for her in the second season in 2023, contributing significantly to her victory.”

He expressed disappointment over changes in their relationship following her win. “In my culture, parents correct their children before issues escalate. Ilebaye has become increasingly unresponsive to my guidance.”

Earlier reports indicated that Ilebaye had sought public assistance after allegedly experiencing domestic violence. During an Instagram livestream, she was seen in distress, with visible injuries, and called for help as an individual believed to be her father appeared to be assaulting her in the background.

The situation has raised urgent concerns about the safety and well-being of the reality star.
