Justice Omotosho orders Interpol, security agencies to arrest convicted ex-minister, Mamman

Former Minister of Power Sentenced to 75 Years for Money Laundering
ABUJA — Saleh Mamman, the former Minister of Power, has been sentenced to 75 years in prison by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja. The sentencing, which took place on Wednesday, follows Mamman’s conviction on 12 counts of money laundering and conspiracy related to funds allocated for the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects.
Justice Omotosho ordered that the sentences run consecutively, meaning that Mamman will serve each term one after the other. Although Mamman was not present in the courtroom during the proceedings, Justice Omotosho stipulated that the sentence will take effect from the date of his arrest.
The court has directed all security agencies, including Interpol, to apprehend Mamman wherever he may be found. Additionally, Justice Omotosho mandated that all funds recovered and properties linked to Mamman be forfeited to the federal government.
As part of his sentencing, Mamman was also ordered to pay the remaining balance from the N22 billion budgeted for the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
