Driver connives with kidnappers to kill, rob Anglican Bishop of Landcruiser SUV

Driver Arrested for Alleged Role in Bishop’s Death in Delta State

A man, serving as the personal driver to Bishop Chinedu, an Anglican leader in Delta State, has been arrested for allegedly conspiring with kidnappers to murder his employer.

The arrest took place at the Anambra State Police Command headquarters. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the suspect and another individual brought into the facility by law enforcement.

Details surrounding the incident remain unclear. Police Commissioner Ikioye Orutugu stated that both suspects had recently been apprehended. He assured the public that further investigation would shed light on the case.

“The details will be revealed soon after we conclude our investigations,” Orutugu told reporters.

Sources indicate that the driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, allegedly collaborated with kidnappers in an attempt to steal the Bishop’s Toyota Land Cruiser SUV. However, the situation escalated, resulting in the Bishop’s death.

Orutugu explained that the suspects transported the vehicle to Anambra with the intention of selling it. “The man you see with him was the one who wanted to buy the vehicle, but they were both arrested during the transaction,” he added.

Police have restricted media access to the suspects, citing the ongoing investigation.
