Eid-el-Kabir: NSCDC deploys 56,000 personnel, tactical squads nationwide

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed more than 56,000 personnel nationwide in preparation for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Babawale Afolabi, the Assistant Commandant of Corps and National Public Relations Officer, announced the deployment in a statement issued Tuesday. The initiative is designed to safeguard lives, property, and critical national assets and infrastructure during the festivities.
According to the statement from the NSCDC’s National Headquarters in Abuja, Commandant General Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi ordered the deployment and directed the mobilization of operational vehicles, ambulances, boats, and canine units for prompt emergency response.
To mitigate potential security threats, Audi has placed all specialized tactical squads, including the Mining Marshals, Special Intelligence Squad, Crack Squad, Female Special Force, and Rapid Response Squad, on high alert.
A strict supervisory structure has been established, with Zonal Commanders tasked with overseeing operations within their jurisdictions and closely coordinating with State Commandants. State Commandants are responsible for ensuring compliance with the operational protocol by monitoring the activities of Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Outpost Heads.
The NSCDC emphasized its commitment to collaborating with other security agencies and the public. Citizens are encouraged to report any security threats promptly to enable swift responses.
The corps has also issued a warning to individuals or groups intending to cause disturbances or damage public infrastructure during the festive period, stating that it will take necessary measures against anyone found undermining public peace.
