Gaza City Wedding Attack Leaves Six Dead, Multiple Injured
Gaza City—At least six people were killed, and at least 15 others were injured during a wedding ceremony on Saturday after Israeli forces targeted the wedding tent with aerial bombardments, according to local medical sources.
Reporting from the scene, Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud described how several projectiles exploded in or near the wedding tents, sending shrapnel into surrounding areas. Witnesses reported that two missiles detonated inside the tent, causing significant damage.
“The shrapnel flew at very high speed into nearby locations, including a school sheltering displaced families next door,” Mahmoud stated.
A representative from al-Shifa Hospital confirmed to Al Jazeera that among the injured, women and children are believed to be included, and the casualty count may rise as more information becomes available.
Relatives of the wedding attendees expressed their shock, noting that the event had drawn a large crowd. What began as a celebration quickly turned tragic. “Within a few minutes, it transformed from a joyful moment into something deeply sorrowful,” Mahmoud reported.
This attack underscores the ongoing fears and anxieties that Palestinians face amid persistent conflict in the region.
