Bandit attacks leave four dead, travellers abducted in Zamfara

Fresh Violence Reported in Zamfara State

ZURMI, Nigeria — Recent outbreaks of violence in the Zurmi Local Government Area have resulted in at least four fatalities and several reports of abductions targeting travelers.

According to security analyst Bakatsine, three individuals were killed while working on their farms. The victims included two residents of Zurmi and one from a neighboring village.

The situation in the area exacerbated following an assault on the Baichen Dauran community. Bakatsine noted that bandits attacked the community late last night, claiming the life of one individual.

The violence reportedly continued with another incident occurring on a nearby road that same night. Bakatsine stated that several travelers were abducted, including a commercial driver identified as Kabiru Takaye from Zurmi.

Residents of Zurmi and the surrounding areas are increasingly apprehensive as ongoing attacks disrupt their safety and livelihoods.

At the time of this report, no official statement had been released by authorities in Zamfara State regarding the incidents.
