The House of Representatives finalized its minority leadership on Thursday with the unanimous nomination of three lawmakers for key positions within the opposition caucus.

During a plenary session, minority members presented a consensus list for the roles of minority leader, deputy minority leader, and minority whip. Rep. Frederick Agbedi was officially endorsed as minority leader, with Rep. Abdulsamad Dasuki named as deputy minority leader. Rep. Mansur Soro was selected to serve as minority whip.

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas presided over the session, formally announcing the nominations and declaring the minority leadership positions filled. He emphasized that this completes the assembly’s principal officer roster, expressing confidence in the newly appointed leaders’ abilities to enhance the legislative efforts of the 10th Assembly.

“Today, the body of principal officers is complete,” Abbas stated. He congratulated the newly appointed lawmakers and assured them of the House leadership’s support.

On behalf of the House, he said, “I want to seize this opportunity to congratulate the three persons and wish them all the best in their new positions. Let them be assured that the leadership of the House will work with them diligently to achieve our legislative agenda.”

These appointments followed extensive consultations among the opposition parties aimed at ensuring effective representation within the House leadership. With this latest round of nominations, both the majority and minority caucuses now have complete principal officer teams, a development expected to enhance legislative coordination and oversight in the chamber.
