Four Suspected Fraudsters Arrested in Delta State

Asaba, Delta State — Operatives from the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit have apprehended four individuals suspected of engaging in fraudulent activities in Asaba, Delta State. The arrests occurred on June 9, 2026, following a targeted operation based on credible intelligence.

The suspects, identified as Joshua Nwaosa, Daniel Arhewe, Prince Chukwuma, and John Egwuba, were taken into custody while allegedly attempting to defraud unsuspecting members of the public using counterfeit U.S. dollar bills.

According to a statement from Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the operation was initiated after surveillance identified a five-member syndicate operating from a red, unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV.

During preliminary questioning, the suspects admitted to operating from a hideout in Asaba. Following their confessions, law enforcement conducted a follow-up operation at the identified location, where they recovered 1,600 counterfeit U.S. dollar notes and military camouflage.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the syndicate’s activities, the statement added.
