Reps Minority Caucus appoints Afam Ogene as spokesperson

Minority Caucus Appoints Afam Victor Ogene as Spokesperson
The Minority Caucus of the 10th House of Representatives has appointed Afam Victor Ogene as its new spokesperson.
The announcement was made in a statement released Saturday by Minority Leader Fredrick Agbedi, who noted that the appointment was approved during an online meeting of the caucus on June 19.
Ogene, who represents the Ogbaru Federal Constituency in Anambra State, currently leads the Nigeria Democratic Party caucus in the House of Representatives. His selection comes as a result of his extensive legislative experience and deep understanding of parliamentary procedures.
As a ranking member of the House and a former journalist, Ogene is expected to manage communication between the Minority Caucus and the public. He will articulate the group’s positions on national issues and legislative matters, as well as support the caucus’s constitutional role in oversight and accountability of the Executive branch.
The statement emphasized Ogene’s background in public communication, which is anticipated to enhance the caucus’s engagement with citizens and reinforce democratic practices within the National Assembly.
“The Caucus is confident that his appointment will strengthen its engagement with citizens and reinforce the principles of checks and balances in the 10th Assembly,” the statement read.
The Minority Caucus encouraged members of the media and the public to support Ogene in his new responsibilities.
