The Abia State Police Command has impounded 15 vehicles and arrested 15 individuals for violations related to vehicle registration and number plates.

These enforcement actions align with a directive from Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu and reflect the State Command’s ongoing commitment to enhancing security.

According to a statement from Deputy Superintendent of Police Maureen Chinaka, the operation targeted unregistered vehicles and those with obscured, defaced, altered, or unauthorized number plates.

“During this operation, the Command successfully seized a total of 15 vehicles found in violation of vehicle registration and number plate regulations,” Chinaka wrote.

Additionally, she noted that 15 suspects were apprehended for offenses connected to the use of unregistered vehicles and tampered or improperly displayed registration plates.

Nine cases have been sent to court, while other related investigations are ongoing and will be prosecuted thoroughly, Chinaka added.

The Police Command praised the operational discipline of the officers involved and reiterated that this enforcement effort is intended to strengthen public safety, improve crime prevention, and limit opportunities for criminal activities related to vehicle identification.
