Adamawa Assembly passes bill to regulate landlord-tenant relationship
Adamawa State House of Assembly Passes Tenancy Bill
The Adamawa State House of Assembly has approved a new bill that sets forth the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants.
Named the Tenancy and Recovery of Premises Bill, it introduces mechanisms for resolving disputes between landlords and tenants, aiming to safeguard both parties from unfair practices.
The bill was passed following the adoption of a report from the Committee on Housing and Urban Development, presented by committee chairman Misa Musa, who represents Ganye Constituency.
This legislation is designed to create a legal framework governing landlord-tenant relationships, tenancy agreements, and the recovery of properties. Its primary focus is to protect the rights of both landlords and tenants while minimizing potential conflicts.
Following the bill’s passage, Speaker Bathiya Wesley instructed the Clerk of the House to prepare a clean copy for submission to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who is expected to consider the bill for his assent into law.
